These inspections were required as .a condition of permit by City of Edmonds. REFERENCES: • City of .Edmonds approved .Project Plans • Geotechnical Report by PanGeo • Site photographs INSPECTIONS: This engineer continues to perform on-site geotechnical inspections for the Hadfield residence. These inspections occur daily during active excavation, foundation preparation, backfill, and drainage work. At a minimum, one inspection visit per week is performed. City of Edmonds Inspection Items: • Excavation: As previously discussed, temporary Eco -Block shoring was required it Pr er to prevent excessive open cut that would jeopardize the existing Hadfield residence to the east. All excavation encountered extremely dense, stable, sub - grade sands. The excavation. was stable, in conjunction with the effective temporary Eco -Block shoring. • Temporary Shoring: As previously reported, all temporary Eco -Block shoring was installed with proper base block embedment, .linkage, batter and "blending in". Re: Hadfield May 30, 2007 Page 2 Subsequently, the temporary Eco -Block shoring has been properly backfilled. • Foundation Bearing: Previously verified to provide 3,000 p.s.f. bearing capacity. The residence foundation footings have been properly placed. • Subsurface Drainage: This engineer worked with site superintendent (Keith Launders) to install the subsurface drains, footing drains, and a "dry well" at the southwest portion of the site. All subsurface drainage is geotechnically approved. • Retaining Wall Rockery: Not yet. • Backfill: This engineer verified the proper placement of backfill against the foundation stem walls. The clean native sands were placed in compacted lifts under this engineer's inspections. • Erosion Control: Contractor continues to properly maintain the rocked construction entrance, as well as the perimeter siltation fencing (see photographs). All work is confined within property lines and no adverse erosional impacts have been observed to date (May 30, 2007). SUMMARY: • Ongoing geotechnical inspections have verified proper completion of items to date (May 30, 2007)_ Geotechnical inspections continue, as required.
