Drainage Exception.rtf From: Williams, Phil Sent: Tuesday, April 05, 2011 9:42 AM To: Shuster, Jerry; English, Robert Subject: RE: April 5, 2011 th To whom it may concern: An engineering firm representing the applicant for Short Plat reference number PLN 20060144 (Hinkle-Miles ) is requesting an exception to a minimum requirement in the Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) Chapter 18.30. This short plat is vested under the previous version of ECDC 18.30. The owners representative, Western Engineers Inc. ,is requesting an exception to the minimum orifice size of 5/8" specified in ECDC Chapter 18.30.060.A.1. The request is to use a minimum orifice size of 1/2" in the each of the detention systems proposed for the project. ECDC Chapter 18.30.065 provides a process for granting an exception to minimum requirements. Such an exception may be granted only if all of the criteria in ECDC Chapter 18.30.065 A. through D are met. ECDC Chapter 18.30.065 references the procedure in ECDC Chapter 18.00.020(C) that states that the Public Works Director or designee shall decide to approve, conditionally approve, or deny the request based on staff analysis and comments from other departments. The decision must be made in writing. Based on analysis by my staff, the request for exception meets the requirements of ECDC 18.30.065 A. through D, and is approved for the PLN 20060144.
