As requested by the contractor, ESNW rep. was onsite to observe and test backfill in a utility trench across 881" Ave
Utility trench observations:
Upon arrival, ESNW rep. observed the contractor working in the road backfilling a shallow utility trench. ESNW rep.
observed that the contractors had embedded the pipes in sand and then backfilled over them in —12" lifts of imported
5/8" minus crushed rock. ESNW rep. observed the contractor using a small jumping jack to compact the backfill
material in between lifts. ESNW rep. took compaction tests in the backfill at the -2' and SG elevations.
Compaction Testing:
ESNW rep. took compaction tests at approx. the -2' and SG elevations within the trench backfill. Density test results
indicate adequate compaction of at least 95% at the tested locations.
ESNW rep. is available to return upon request from the contractor.
