Box 3121 Everett, WA 98213 GARY HAAKENSON MAYOR RE: Permit #bld20060184, 17008 77th PI W - Driveway Slope Exceeding 20% Dear Mr. Kvernmo, This letter is being sent in response to your request to exceed the maximum allowed driveway slope of 20% for the lower half of the driveway, dated October 15, 2006. Approval had previously been given to exceed a driveway slope of 14%. The City's inspector performed a form inspection, prior to pour, and found the driveway slope would be at 19.5%, which was acceptable through the previous approval. I understand however, when the driveway was poured a swale was created at the base of the drive which increased the slope of the lower half of the driveway to about 21-22%. The City's inspector made a subsequent site visit to witness maneuverability of a vehicle on the driveway. It was found that due to the swale in the driveway that a vehicle similar to a sedan would bottom out when entering and exiting the garage. For this reason, your request to exceed the maximum allowed slope of 20% is being denied. As advised by the inspector, please remove and replace the driveway to meet City code requirements. If you have any questions regarding these requirements please feel free to contact Jeanie McConnell at 425-771-0220, ext. 1338. Sincerely, K. GEBERT, P.E.
