EDMONDS, WASIIINGTON.
The following letter addresses the issues pertaining to conducting a geotechnical
exploration program to develop recommendations for the upsizing of approximately
2,200 linear feet of pipe along 76"' Ave W in Edmonds, Washington. Our exploration
plan consists of drilling five 30 foot deep borings in the paved roadway of 76"' Ave W
between Olympic View Drive and 175"' St SW, as seen on Figure 1, Site and exploration
plan. Also we will install tl-n-ce piezometers in the borings to monitor local ground water
elevations. The location and pertinent statistics for each planned exploratory boring is
listed in Table 1. In support of this work, we have also developed a traffic control plan
using the WSDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Guidelines (2008).
EXPLORATIONS AND PIEZEOAIETER INSTALLATION
Explorations will be conducted utilizing a truck mounted drill rig, A hollow stem auger
will be advanced with the drill rig and samples -will be collected every 2.5 to 5 feet of
drilling. The borings will be abandoned per Washington Department of Ecology
Standards and patched at the surface with quick setting cement dyed to match the color of
the asphalt. Where piezometers are installed they will be installed per Washington
Department of Ecology Standards, and finished at the surface with a locking flush mount
cap.

shown in Figure 1. The speed limit is 30 mph and there are four cross streets within the
site boundary..
Scope of Work: The work will consist of drilling five 8" diameter exploratory boring in
the center of the travel lane at the locations shown on Figure 1 and listed in Table 1. The
work will be stationary.
Duration of Work: It will take approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete the work at each
location where only a boring is proposed, and 2-3 hours at the locations where a
piezometer is proposed.
Tentative Date and Hours of Work: Work will occur between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The work has tentatively been scheduled for March 18"' and 19"' 2009.
General Traffic Plan Layout: The single lane road closure will follow all guidelines
and regulations set forth by WSIDOT traffic plan TCP -1, as shown on Figure 2,
Distance calculations:. All distance calculations are based on a 30 mph speed limit.

Buffer Data- B= 200 feet
Taper/Tangent- will be 20 and 40 feet, respectively
