Summary:
The applicant has constructed a carport structure without applying for and receiving approval for a building
permit. Once an Order to Stop Work was Issued by the Building Division, the applicant decided to pursue a
variance as opposed to relocating or demolishing the carport. Staff reviewed the application and scheduled
the public hearing for October 5, 2006. The staff report is attached – staff felt that the project did not meet
all of the variance criteria and has therefore recommended denial of the variance application. At the request
nd
of Tony Stein (see attached), the Hearing Examiner continued the public hearing until November 2. Staff
has received no new information from the applicant or Mr. Stein, therefore the original staff report remains
unchanged (see attached). To date, we have received three written public comments, all in opposition to the
nd
variance (see attached). The Hearing Examiner will hold the continued public hearing on November 2 and
will make the final decision.
