NW Peak Brewery.pdfMEMORANDUM May 23, 2016 TO: rgregorypayne@comcast.net FROM: Steve Fisher, City of Edmonds Public Works, 425-771-0235 or recycleguy@edmondswa.gov RE: Review comments for required trash enclosure BLD20160553 — NW Peak Brewery, 18502 76th Ave. W, Edmonds Two points of clarification are needed for finalizing the trash enclosure review Size of enclosure: The footprint of the structure is minimal and orientated so as to limit the type of collection container(s) to those that need to roll in and out of the enclosure. Knowing that spent grains are typically the largest waste type generated by brewers, will the enclosure need to have a separate container for grains (serviced by the certified hauler), or will grains be staged there for pickup by an independent party? Either way, if the enclosure is intended for garbage, recycle, and grain staging, the structure may need to increase in width, i.e. 10' to 14 or 15'. Access to enclosure location: The unpaved future drive area, blocked by bollards, will cause any collection vehicles to back out onto Olympic View Drive since there is no adequate turnaround. Both our Traffic Engineer and the garbage company wishes to avoid such a scenario. Backing onto the property is also not an option. An arrangement for the bollards to be removed on collection day(s) would provide a suitable way for these large vehicles to safely exit to 76th Ave. after servicing. Is this a feasible option? Is it the intention to eventually pave this drive area so that it is left open and accessible? Looking forward to your response to help support safe and efficient waste collection
