Old Milltown #204.pdfMEMORANDUM June 6, 2012 TO: Freiheit & Ho Architects, Inc. FROM: Steve Fisher, City of Edmonds Public Works, 425-771-0235 RE: Plan review for required trash enclosure 2012-0407 — 2015 Ih Ave. S #204, Edmonds WA The proposal for this space at the Old Milltown property, as well as the adjoining space #201, will need to include a screened enclosure for the storage and collection of garbage and recycle containers. An enclosure that had previously existed to serve this upper portion of the Old Milltown complex, off of maple Street, was removed by the building's owner (for reasons unknown) and therefore needs to be replaced. This property is required to have an enclosure that serves this part of the property. The whole complex presents a unique challenge where trash removal service is concerned. When the redevelopment of the lower portion occurred, a trash/service area was created along Dayton Street that was intended to serve tenants on the lower level only. The upper level already had a dedicated collection area/enclosure. Permits for all the remaining vacancies in the complex are now in review or have been issued by the City. The lower trash collection area is not suitable for handling the total building's trash service that is expected with full occupancy. The former enclosure was located in the southwest portion of the upper parking area that is accessed from Maple Street. The footprint of that structure was approximately 15' wide by 13' deep — inside dimensions. This will be the minimum size that will be accepted for replacement. Enclosure design standards and other details needed for submittal can be found in the handout "Garbage & Recycle Collection Enclosure & Access Policy" available online at our City website.
