Hello George, Thank you for taking time to discuss the Edmonds PCC Natural Markets with me earlier today. I understand that this is a complex project and other submittals will follow the renovation of the building shell, including the grease interceptors. As we discussed earlier today, the building will house the PCC natural markets, approximately 25,000 sq ft and in addition, approximately 10,000 sq ft will house other tenants, most likely restaurants. About June of 2007, I discussed the grease interceptor designs for the PCC Natural Markets with Steve Bloedel of HV Engineering. The City required one grease interceptor (GI) for the PCC Natural Markets and one separate GI for the tenant spaces. A maintenance agreement will be required to be drawn up defining who is responsible for the GI maintenance. Ultimately, the building owner is responsible for the GI maintenance. I may have an agreement on file that you could base your GI maintenance agreement on. The City uses the UPC to base their minimum sizing requirements. However, other variables are taken into consideration to best estimate a GI size capacity that is effective for PCC Natural Markets. We also consider menu, meals served, hours open, and performance of GIs at other PCC Natural markets. I am required to review the permit as submitted. I understand that a future submittal will be coming regarding the required GIs. I will be happy to work with you and Steve Bloedel in determining the sizing of these vessels. In my part of the review, I will assign the Pretreatment review back to the applicant, awaiting the GI submittal. Please contact me if I can be of any assistance.
