Planning Comments #1.pdfOF EDM °N CITY OF EDMONDS PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS PLANNING DIVISION 4c. 1 s9° 425.771.0220 DATE: 03/25/2019 TO: Clayton Moss cmoss e,formaseatde.com FROM: Amber Groll, Planner amber.groUgedmondswa.gov RE: Plan Check BLD2019-0306 210 5", Ave S, Edmonds Install Wall and Awning Signs On behalf of the Planning Division, I have reviewed the above building permit application. During review of the subject submittal, it was found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications need to be addressed. Please respond to the following items, so that I can complete my review: 1. Illumination of sign: A halo sign is defined as "a sign where the light source is concealed behind an opaque face and the rays of illumination are projected outwards around the edges of the sign or directed against the surface behind the sign forming a silhouette or halo effect". An internally illuminated sign is "any sign where light shines through a transparent or semi -transparent sign face to illuminate the sign's message". Plans submitted for the proposed sign describe it as an internally illuminated wall sign. An internally illuminated sign per the above definition requires conditional permitting through design review if it's consistent with the standards itemized in ECDC 20.60.020.N. Options that wouldn't require a design review would be Halo lighting or the sign may be externally illuminated. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 425.771.0220 ext. 1372. Please make all submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 8:00 am 4:30 pm or Wednesday 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
