PURPOSE AND SCOPE
A field representative of CG Engineering was on site on July 11, 2019 to observe the rebar reinforcing
for approximately 45'-0" of grade beam prior to concrete placement. It is our understanding that
approximately 45'-0" of a 75'-0" total length grade beam had been formed and rebar placed and
ready for concrete pour. The remaining 30'-0" will be formed and poured at a later date.
EXISTING BUILDING
The existing building is a single family residential structure that had experienced settlement to the
downhill side. The existing rockery wall at the edge of the rear patio was removed and will be replaced
with an allan block and geogrid wall system supported by a concrete grade beam. The concrete patio
slab will then be replaced with a new structural slab. At the time of our site visit, part of the grade
beam was formed and ready for the concrete mix to be placed.
OBSERVATIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
Grade Beam Reinforcing —The footing reinforcing appears to conform to the permitted
structural drawings dated 11/21/18. All reinforcing was installed per the structural details. The
concrete grade beam was formed with additional height to accommodate the existing grade
and an additional layer of reinforcing was provided to account for the additional concrete area.
2. Additional Observations — Construction appeared to conform with the construction documents
and no issues were observed during our visit.
