Ordinance 2396MAE:jt 8/31/83 ORDINANCE NO. 2396 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHING - TON, ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL MEMORIAL STREET TREE FUND TO CONSIST OF MONEYS CONTRIBUTED BY CITIZENS FOR THE PLANTING OF STREET TREES AND ACCEPTING CONTRIBUTIONS THEREFOR. WHEREAS, Section 18.85.010 of the Community Develop- ment Code as amended by Ordinance No. 2387, passed by the City Council on July 26, 1983, adopts the Edmonds Street Tree Plan (1982) designating the location and varieties of trees to be planted along the streets of the City of Edmonds, and WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a special fund for the receipt of moneys donated by citizens for the purpose of acquiring and planting street trees in accordance with the Edmonds Street Tree Plan (1982) and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that such moneys may be received in memory of a particular individual as designated by the donor with identifying memorial name plates installed at such donors cost in conjunction with the planting of specific street trees, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Edmonds hereby accepts for and on behalf of said City voluntary con- tributions made to the City of Edmonds for the purpose of enhancing the appearance of Edmonds city streets by the planting of street trees in conformance with the Edmonds Street Tree Plan (1982), and will accept said funds in the future, provided, such moneys may be used only for said purpose. Section 2. There is hereby established a Memorial Street Tree Fund into which fund will be deposited any and all voluntary contributions made for the purpose of enhancing the appearance of Edmonds' city streets through the planting of street trees in conformance with the Edmonds Street Tree Plan. The Finance Director shall transfer any moneys previously received for such purpose into such fund. Section 3. The City Council shall, authorize expenditures from the Memorial Street Tree Fund, by inclusion in the City's annual budget or by amendment thereto, for the purposes for which said fund was established. Section 4. The Finance Director, or designee, is hereby further authorized to accept additional funds from Memorial Street Tree Fund donors for the sole purpose of covering the cost of name plates and engraving in memory of persons designated by such donors. Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by posting as provided by law. APPROVED: MAYOR, H. H.
