The subject application has been reviewed but cannot be completed until the following items have been addressed or completed.
The Pretreatment review for TI Permit # BLD-2021-0162 is approved.
An ISO11143 complaint amalgam separator is required for this dental clinic.
The City of Edmonds highly discourages the installation and use of the following device – “The Amalgam Collector” provided by R&D Services for the following reasons;
This collector requires daily maintenance compared to yearly service as other separators
It is possible to have the adjustable decant tube seize in place
The daily decanting maintenance can be easily forgotten and amalgam sludge containing mercury decant/escape into the city collection system then into the environment.
Maintenance can be difficult and sloppy resulting in amalgam sludge spills. When this happens, there is a danger of amalgam sludge entering drains during cleanup.
I generally reserve my comments on equipment but on the product “The Amalgam Collector” I feel I have to share my experiences. I have seen each of these problems for myself.
