Climate Protection Agreement
Mission of the CPS is to (7) Encourage citizens to be a part of the solution, (2) Encourage
City staff and citizens to conserve current resources, (3) Work with the City Council to im-
plement ideas, and (4) Effectively address the future impacts of climate change

1. Call to Order, Review of Agenda, & Introductions: The regular meeting of the
CPC was called to order at 8:30 am on a zoom video call initiated by the City.
2. Approval of April 2021 meeting minutes: Approved with two corrections, Item
#4 "how to get more than..." and Item #8 typo in "April 17 — should be 17".
3. CPC Governance: Bryn is willing to co-chair. Cynthia will co-chair this month. T.C.
will be asked to continue on the committee. Discussed recruitment of new mem-
bers; 8-10 member committee feels ideal. Members gave brief bios. It was sug-
gested that a member with an opposing views might lend balance, as well as the
addition of a youth commission (perhaps quarterly commitment due to time re-
strictions) and diversity commission member. Discussed possibly attending a
youth commission meeting — Laura to contact. Cynthia interested.
4. City Report: Shane Hope reported that the Climate Action Plan survey results will
be posted on the website this month.
5. City Council Report: Laura Johnson reported that the 6-year TIP is coming to the
council as well as Housing recommendations, the Forestry plan, and considera-
tion of bike lanes. Group is interested in hearing about council issues that affect
CPC.
6. Other City Actions for CPC to track: Shane Hope reported there will be a com-
prehensive plan assessment of climate inequity as well as climate policies. The
city is looking at standards for new development. The Planning Board is looking
at standards for multi-family/mixed uses including possible electric vehicle charg-
ing stations and bike storage for all units.
7. Public Comment: Hank Landau reported that the Port of Edmonds is building a
new center. Since the Waterfront Center targeted LEED certification he wondered
if the Port Center could as well.
8. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 am
