Board Meeting May 13 2021 Meeting called to order: 8:05 Board Members/Administration in Attendance: Matt McCulloch, Pam Stuller, Cheryl Farrish, Kali Kelnero, Kimberly Koenig, Jen Lawson, Olivia Brown -Latham, Robert Boehlke, Blake Fisher, Beth Sanger, and Carrie Hulbert. City of Edmonds Representative in Attendance: Patrick Doherty, Megan Luttrell and Alicia Moreno. Guests: Liz Morgan (FIELD), Rachel Dobbins (Art Walk Edmonds), Kathy Solum (Edmonds Vision Center), Andy Cline (Cline Jewelers), Janelle Cass (Ghana Hyperbarics), MacKenzie Graham (Maclash + Brow Bar), Ben Groff (Gallery North), David Preston (Port of Edmonds), Sheila Cloney (Anchor Chic), Kate Guthrie (Glazed and Amazed). Public Comment: N/A Election of Election Officers: 14 votes for Cheryl Farris - president, Kimberly Koenig —vice- president, Beth Sanger — secretary and Kali Kelnero — treasurer. Approval of Previous Meeting's Minutes: Kimberly moved to approve the minutes from the March and April meetings. Robert seconded. All approved, none opposed. President's Report: Cheryl Farrish introduction. Treasurer's Report: Kali reported. She has not received the April report from city, March was presented. Budget balance is over by $9,000. This overage belongs to Ed! members and with City Council approval may be allocated to this year's budget/work plan. Closely tracking shortfalls and overages. New Businesses Added to BID: Matt reported the seven new licenses in the city: Everett Integrative, Soaring Heart, Steepologie, Development One, Legendary Properties, and Dahlstrom Builders. City Report: Patrick provided the City Report. Walkable Main Street will have a shorter season: June 19 - Sept 5. Both on Saturday and Sunday. The city is looking into leasing parking in the Bank of America lot. The city will be expanding handicapped parking and drop off areas for Walkable Main. City will receive money from the American Rescue Plan act. The city will receive the first portion of money in June and the balance next year. Patrick is open to suggestions for ways to spend the funds within the parameters of the program. The question was asked if the city would consider allowing parking at Civic Field and Patrick will follow up with Parks Department to see if that is a possibility. Permits & Building Update: Kali has not received information about new permits. Committee Updates • Communication & Outreach: Matt delivered report. New businesses not on the license list (Kahlo's and MacLash + Brow Bar) have opened. The committee is continuing efforts to expand boundaries and add Salish Crossing into the BID. Pam is asking Salish Crossing businesses to respond with petitions no later than June 1. Focusing efforts on Salish Crossing to join the BID. Will wait to potentially add businesses on 5th Ave South. • Admin: Kimberly and Carrie delivered the report. The process of the Ed! Meeting was discussed as well as the new officers. • Marketing: Carrie delivered the report. The committee is publishing an article on working from Edmonds to promote service businesses. She also shared Lovin' Summer Edmonds logo and the campaign to encourage everyone to go to downtown Edmonds. Ideas include window art, posters and table tents promoting downtown activities, social media ads, Summer Drink Bingo, and some sort of scavenger hunt. • Appearance & Environment: Carrie delivered this report. Committee is investigating additional lots for parking: First Church of Christ, McDevitt and Duffy, and Coastal Community Bank. The budget for this committee is $3000 and $300 has been used to remove signs from Bank of America. Those signs will be updated and reused in the new lots. • MOTION; Cheryl moved to allocate $2,700 towards parking expansion. Kimberly seconded. All approved, none opposed. Grants Program: No updates.
