AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 6.20.020, WATER RATES -
METER INSTALLATION CHARGES, OF CHAPTER 6.20, TITLE 6,
OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE BY INCREASING THE CHARGES
PROVIDED FOR BY THE SAID ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, portions of the installed water system do not meet
existing City standards and thus necessitate substantial reconstruction
to conform with City standards, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds in classifying
the rates to be charged has considered the following factors: the differ-
ence in cost of service to the various customers; the location of the
various customers within and without the City; the difference in cost of
maintenance, operation, repair and replacement of various parts of the
*ystem; the different character of the service furnished various customers;
the quantity of the water furnished; the time of its use; and capital
contributions made to the system including, but not limited to assessments,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds has published notice of public hear-
ing and held public hearings on Wednesday, November 12, 1969 and Thursday,
November 20, 1969, regarding the proposed rate increase, now therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Edmonds City Code, Section 6.20.020, Water
Rates - Meter Installation Charges, Chapter 6.20, Title 6, is hereby
amended to read as followS:-
"6.20.020 Water Rates - Meter Installation Charges. The
minimum monthly rates for 700 cubic feet or less water
supplied through meters are hereby fixed as follows:
(a)
3/4" meters
(b)
l"

1/2" meters
(d)

(e)

EXCESS CHARGES
All water consumed in excess of 700 cubic feet shall be
an additional charge to the consumer at the rate of $ .25
per 100 : cubic: feet.
The above rates are exclusive of taxes.
New service line and meter installation charges are hereby
fixed as follows:
(a) 3/4" inside city limits $125.00
(b) 3/4" outside city limits 150.00
(c) 1" inside city limits 150,00
(d) 1" outside city limits 1.75.00
(e) All over 1" to be charged for at total actual cost of
job.
Cost of street restoration (all surfaced streets) to be
added to any meter installation charge where applicable."
When approved by the City Engineer, new service lines in-
stalled by developer on plats shall be credited as follows:
(a) 3/4" lines
(b) 1" lines

Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
five days after its passage and publication as provided by law.
