Ordinance 1462ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE OF. THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON AMENDING CHAPTER 1.25 OF. THE EDMONDS CITY CODE, PRESCRIBING THE.VACATION. TIMES, COMPENSATING TIME AND SICK LEAVE FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY. OF EDMONDS, AND ORDINANCE NO. 1422 OF SAID CITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY. OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: The .following sections of Chapter 1.25 of the Edmonds City Code, and Ordinance No. 1422 are hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1. 25 .0 30 VACATIONS A. Each employee shall accrue the following amount of.vacation time with. pay depending on the length of continuous service. (1) Five days of.vacation after six months. of continuous service. (2). Ten days of vacation after one full year of continuous service. (3.) Fifteen days of.vacation after six .full years of continuous service. (4) Twenty days of.vacation after fifteen full years of continuous service. B. Vacation time shall be taken within the 12 month period following the. date .on which it is permitted,.and may not be extended or accumulated without the approval of the mayor. C. Vacation schedules must be submitted by each department not later than March lst of each year. The schedules will be submitted by. the City Supervisor to the mayor for his approval, and thereafter will be made available to all employees. D. Any employee whose service is honorably termin- ated after the completion of one year of continuous service shall be paid for any.vacation time accumulated prior to the effective date of termination. S e cti'on' 1. 2 5 .0 6 0. SICK LEAVE A. Sick leave with pay shall accrue at the rate of one working day of leave for each full calendar month of the employee.'.s continuous service. The maximum amount of accrued sick leave shall be limited .to 100 days away from service. B. Upon honorable termination,.unused sick leave shall be paid for at one-half the regular rate. of pay at the time of termination. In the event of death of the employee said payment for unused sick leave shall be paid to his surviving spouse or estate if no widow survives. C. An employee eligible for sick leave with pay shall be granted such leave for: (1.) Personal illness or physical incapacity. resulting from a cause beyond the enployee's control. (2) Forced quarantine :of the employee. (3) Upon approval of the mayor, the :death of a member of the employee'.s immediate family. D. The:certificate:of a physician and/or a written report concerning the need for the sick leave may be re- quired by. the .City, and if .so required shall be supplied by the employee in order to qualify for sick leave with pay.
