Ordinance 1472ORDINANCE NO. 7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON CREATING A NEW CHAPTER IN THE EDMONDS CITY CODE, CHAPTER 1.23, ESTABLISHING A DISABILITY BOARD WITH JURISDICTION OVER POLICE AND FIREMEN OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS PURSUANT TO LAWS OF 1969, EX. SESS., CHAPTER 219, AND AS THE SAME MAY BE AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME. WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds having a population of over 20,000 persons in accord with Chapter 20.9 of the Laws of 1969, Ex. Sess., as amended by Chapter 219, Laws of 1969, Ex. Sess., must establish a dis- ability board with jurisdiction over all members of the police and fire department, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1.23.010 Disability Board. There is hereby created a disability board having that juris- diction over policemen and firemen as provided by Chapter 209, Laws of 1969, Ex. Sess., as amended by Chapter 219, Laws of 1969, Ex. Sess., composed of the following five members: (a) Two members of the City Council to be appointed by the mayor; (b) One firefighter to be elected by the firefighters employed by said City; (c) One law enforcement officer to be elected by the Police Department; and (d) One member from the public at large who resides within the City of Edmonds to be appointed by the other four appointed members heretofore designated in this section. All members appointed or elected pursuant to this section shall serve for two year terms. The members shall not receive compensation for their service upon the disability board but shall be reimbursed for all travel expenses. / - �7 incidental to such service. The disability board shall perform all functions, exercise all powers, and make.such determinations as specified under the foregoing laws of the State of Washington as may be amended from time to time.
