ORDINANCE NO. 1496
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
ANNEXING CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY TO SAID CITY
PURSUANT TO THE; PETITION METHOD, REQUIRING SAID
PROPERTY TO BE ASSESSED AND TAXED AT THE SAME
RATE AND BASIS AS OTHER PROPERTY WITHIN SAID
CITY, AND FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF ANNEXATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds received a Petition for
Annexation of certain real property, the legal description
of which is set forth below, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has
determined that the City will require the assumption of
existing City indebtedness by the area to be annexed, and
WHEREAS, the said City Council fixed the date of
July 7, 1970, as the date for public hearing thereon and
caused due and proper notice of said hearing to be posted
and published, and
WHEREAS, it was determined that it was not necessary
for the protection of the interests of the various parties
to follow the statutory review board procedure and the same
were dispensed with, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
There has been filed with the City Council
of the City of Edmonds, a Petition in writing signed by the
owners of more than 75 percent in value, according to the
assessed valuation for general taxation of the property
for which annexation was petitioned; that said Petition
sets forth a legal description of said real property;
that said Petition was accompanied by a plat or drawing out-
lining the boundaries of property sought to be annexed;
that said Petition set forth the fact that the City
Council of the City of Edmonds required the assumption of

City indebtedness by the area requested to be annexed; that
prior to the filing of said Petition the City Council had
indicated the tentative approval of such annexation.
Section 2. Tuesday, July 7, 1970, was set as a date
for public hearing on said Petition; Notice of such
hearing was published in the Edmonds Tribune Review, a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of Edmonds;
Notice of such hearing was also posted in three public places
within the territory proposed for annexation; and said
Notice specified the time and place of such hearing and
invited interested persons to appear and voice approval
or disapproval of the annexation. That said hearing was
continued to and completed on September 15, 1970.
Section 3. The territory proposed by said Petition
to be annexed to said City of Edmonds is situate in the
County of Snohomish in the State of Washington, is
contiguous, proximate and adjacent to the present
corporate limits of said City, and is particularly
described as follows:
The East half of the West half of the Southeast
quarter of the Northwest quarter of the Southwest
quarter of Section 29, Township 27 North, Range 4
E., W.M., EXCEPT the South 20 feet for road.
Situated in Snohomish County, Washington; and the
South half of the West half of the West half of
the Southeast quarter of the Northwest quarter
of the Southwest quarter of Section 29, Township
27 North, Range 4 E., W.M., EXCEPT the West 80
feet thereof, and EXCEPT county road. Situated
in Snohomish County, Washington.
Section 4. The territory set forth in this Ordinance
and for which said Petition for Annexation is filed,
should be and is hereby made a part of the City of Edmonds.
Section 5. Pursuant to the terms of the Annexation
Petition, all property within this territory annexed
hereby shall be assessed and taxed at the same rate and
on the same basis as property within the City of Edmonds
for any now outstanding indebtedness of said City,

including assessments or taxes in payment of any bonds issued
or debts contracted, prior to or existing at the date of
annexation.
Section 6.
The area annexed hereby shall become a
part of the City of Edmonds, and this Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force, on the 28th day of September, 1970.
