AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 11.02.020 OF THE EDMONDS CITY
CODE BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE
BOARD OF APPEALS AND SETTING FORTH THEIR TERMS
OF OFFICE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
The Edmonds City Code, Section 11.02.020, is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 11.02.020 Board of appeals - Section 204
of uniform code. Section 204 of the uniform
building code as hereinabove adopted, is hereby
set forth as amended:
In order to determine the suitability of
alternate materials and types of construction and
to provide for reasonable interpretations of the
provisions of this code, there shall be and is
hereby created a board of appeals consisting of
seven members who are qualified by experience and
training to pass upon the matters pertaining to
building construction and design. The building
official, so designated, shall be an ex officio
non -voting member and shall act as secretary of the
board. In addition, one member of the City Council
shall be appointed by the Mayor to act as an ex
officio non -voting member of said board of appeals.
The members of the board of appeals shall be
appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval
of the City Council; their terms of office shall
be for a period of four years. The board may
adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conduct-
ing its investigation and shall render all decisions
and findings in writing with a copy to the
applicant and may recommend to the City Council
new legislation relative to building and design
construction matters.
In order that the fewest terms of members of
the board of appeals shall expire in any one

year, the terms shall expire on the annual
anniversary date of the effective date of this
amendment as follows:
