ORDINANCE NO. 2522
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
PROVIDING FOR INCREASED SALARY FOR ITS MAYOR,
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 1985, AND FIXING A DATE
WHEN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, the salary of the Mayor of the City of Edmonds
was set at $3,250.00 per month or $39,000.00 per year on January
1, 1984, and
WHEREAS, the City Council did not act upon the Mayor's
salary when it adjusted the pay ranges for City exempt employees
by Ordinance No. 2480, but rather provided that the salary would
remain at the level previously established until reviewed by
action of the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the City Council determines it is appropriate
and in line with the salaries offered in similar positions in
similarly situated cities, to increase the salary of the Mayor to
a level equivalent to $3,380.00 per month or $40,560.00 per year,
now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Ordinances No. 2480 and 2411
establishing the salary ranges and salaries of exempt personnel
for the City are hereby amended to provide for a salary for the
Mayor of the City of Edmonds at a rate equivalent to $3,380.00
per month and $40,560.00 per year. This salary shall be
effective for the service of the Mayor from and after September
1, 1985.
Section 2. This ordinance, being an exercise of a
power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not
subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after
passage and publication as provided by law. The City Clerk is
authorized and instructed to publish this ordinance or a summary
thereof.
