AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
REPEALING SECTION 11.12.030 OF THE EDMONDS CITY
CODE AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 11.12.030 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE TO AMEND SECTION 401(a) OF THE
UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE TO ALLOW ABS OR PVC INSTAL-
LATION IN RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, the following amendment is in the best in-
terest of the public health, safety and general welfare, now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 11.12.030 of the Edmonds City Code
is hereby repealed and a new Section 11.12.030 is hereby added to
read as follows:
"11.12.030 USE OF ABS AND PVC PIPING PERMITTED IN RESIDENTIAL
CONSTRUCTION.
Section 401(a) of the Uniform Plumbing Code, as adopted herein,
is amended to read as follows:
'(a) Drainage pipe shall be cast iron, galvanized
steel, galvanized wrought iron, lead, copper,
brass, ABS, PVC or other approved materials having
a smooth and uniform bore, except: 1. That no
galvanized wrought iron or galvanized steel pipe
shall be used underground and shall be at least
six (6) inches (152.4mm) above ground. 2. ABS or
PVC installation limited to residential construc-
tion."'
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and

effect five (5) days after passage and publication by posting as
provided by law.
