ORDINANCE NO. 2533
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING CHAPTER 5.41 BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW
SECTION 5.41.055 REGARDING NO WAKE ZONES FOR
WATERCRAFT AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL
BECOME EFFECTIVE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds finds
that it is necessary to regulate the speed of watercraft within
certain areas of the outer harbor line of the City of Edmonds in
order to protect the safety of persons swimming and using the
City underwater park, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 5.41 is amended by the addition of
a new section 5.41.055 relating to a speed limit for watercraft
to read as follows:
Section 5.41.055 Watercraft: No Wake Zone
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any
watercraft within the hereinafter defined no wake zones
in such a manner as to create a visable wake. No wake
zones are hereby defined to be:
A. Within the boat harbour of the Port of Edmonds,
such area to be identified as lying within the
breakwater maintained by the Port;
B. Over the Edmonds underwater park as designated by
markers and buoys; and/or
C. Within fifty (50) yards of any public beach,
swimming area or fishing pier.
This provision shall not apply to watercraft operated
by the Washington State Ferry System nor to any
watercraft operated for emergency or rescue purposes by
the City of Edmonds, Port of Edmonds, Snohomish County
or State of Washington.
Section 2. This ordinance or a summary thereof
consisting of the title, shall be published in the official
newspaper of the City and shall take effect and be in full force
thirty (30) days after the date of publication.
