ORDINANCE NO. 2534
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING TITLE 19 BUILDING CODES BY THE ADDITION
OF A NEW CHAPTER 19.100, CONSISTING OF SECTION
19.100.000 LIMITING THE CLASS PROTECTED BY THE
UNIFORM AND OTHER CODES ADOPTED BY TITLE 19 AND
FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS the City Council finds that potential liability
may exist with respect to the enforcement of its Uniform and
other Building Codes, and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it to be in the best
interests of the public health, safety and welfare to define and
limit those classes and persons to be protected and benefited by
said Codes and to thereby limit the City's liability to the
extent permitted by law, now, therefore,
FOLLOWS:
THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS
Section 1. Title 19 of the Edmonds Community
Development Code is hereby amended by the addition of a new
Chapter 19.00, Section 19.100.000 Classes Protected to read as
follows:

Classes.
Section 19.100.00 Limitation of Benefited and
Protected Classes. The Uniform and other Building
Codes are adopted by Title 19 of the Edmonds Community
Development Code for the purpose of providing for and
promoting the health, safety and welfare of the general
public. Nothing in this title shall be interpreted to
create or otherwise establish any particular class or
group of persons who will or would be especially
protected or benefited by the adoption of any Code in
this Title.
Section 2. This ordinance, being an administrative
action, is not subject to referendum and shall take effect five
(5) days after the date of publication. The City Clerk is
authorized and instructed to publish this ordinance or a summary
thereof consisting of its title.
