Ordinance 1577-77 ORDINANCE NO. /,5 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING THE GENERAL TAXES FOR THE CITY OF EDMONDS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1972, ON ALL PROPERTY, BOTH REAL AND PERSONAL, IN SAID CITY, SUBJECT TO TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING SUFFICIENT REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY FOR THE ENSUING YEAR AS REQUIRED BY LAW, AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds having considered the City's anticipated financial require- ments for 1972 and the amounts necessary and available to be raised by ad valorem taxes on real, personal and utility property, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There shall be and hereby is levied on all real, personal and utility property in the City of Edmonds, subject to taxation, current taxes for the ensuing year commencing January 1, 1972, the sum of $703,341.73 which is 8 mills levied on an assessed valuation of $87,917,716.00 of all said taxable property, for the Current Expense Fund and for the Firemen's Pension Fund as may be necessary to maintain the actuarial soundness of said Firemen's Pension Fund, if any. Section 2. In addition to the above levies for the ensuing fiscal year 1972, there shall be and hereby is levied current taxes of $39,232.50, which is approximately a .6158 mill property tax levy on an assessed valuation of $63,707,309.00, the purpose of which is to retire the out- standing obligation incurred by the City for Refunding General Obligation Bonds which retired bonds that had been issued after an affirmative vote of the citizens in favor of the construction of Fire Station No. 2 for said City -264- and the construction of the Edmonds Civic Center. Section 3. In addition to the above levies for the ensuing fiscal year 1972, there shall be and hereby is levied current taxes of $45,035.00 which is approximately a .5122 mill property tax on an assessed valuation of $87,917,716.00, the purpose of which is to retire the out- standing General Obligation Bonds incurred by the City after an affirmative vote of the citizens in favor of the acquisition of public parks. Section 4. This Ordinance shall be certified to the proper County Officials, as provided by law, and the taxes here levied shall be collected and paid to the City Treasurer of the City of Edmonds, at the time and in the manner provided the laws of the State of Washington for the collection of taxes for noncharter code cities.
