AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, LEVYING THE GENERAL TAXES FOR THE CITY OF EDMONDS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1986, ON ALL PROPERTY, BOTH REAL AND PERSONAL, IN SAID CITY WHICH IS SUBJECT TO TAXA- TION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING SUFFICIENT REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY FOR THE ENSUING YEAR. AS REQUIRED BY LAW, RELEVYING AN ADDITIONAL REGULAR TAX ON SAID PROPERTY FOR THE PROVISION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds having considered the City's anticipated financial requirements for 1986, and the amounts necessary and available to be raised by ad valorem taxes on real, personal and utility property, and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2500, passed by the City Council on June 11, 1985, and approved by the voters at a special election held November 5, 1985, directs that an addi- tional regular tax on all property in the City shall be collected for the provision of emergency medical care and services, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There shall be and hereby is levied on all real, personal, and utility property in the City of Edmonds, subject to taxation, current taxes for the ensuing year commencing January 1, 1986, the sum of $2,202,419 which is $1.9085 per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation levied on property -1- with an estimated assessed valuation of $1,153,993,575 of all said taxable property, for the Current Expense Funds and for the Firemen's Pension Fund as may be necessary to maintain the actuarial soundness of said Firemen's Pension Fund, if any be needed. Section 2. In addition to the above levies for the ensuing fiscal year of 1985, there shall be and is hereby levied current taxes of $288,498, which is $0.25 dollars per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation levied on property with an estimated assessed valuation of $1,153,993,575 of all said taxable property, the purpose of which is to fund the provision of emergency medical care and services. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be certified to the proper County Officials, as provided by law, and taxes here levied shall be collected to pay to the Finance Director of the City of Edmonds at the time and in the manner provided by the laws of the State of Washington for the collection of taxes for non -chartered code cities. Section 4. This ordinance shall be published in the official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force five (5) days after the date of publication.
