Ordinance 1617ORDINANCE NO. ' 16 / 7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 10.10.050 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE SETTING FORTH THE POLICY OF THE CITY WITH RESPECT TO THE INSTALLATION AND/OR REPLACEMENT OF WATER MAINS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Section 10.10.050 of the Edmonds City Code and Ordinance No. 1568 are amended to read as follows: Section 10.10.050 Costs. The cost of installation and/or replacement of water mains as required by this Chapter shall be as follows: (A) Water main installation and/or replacement to City standards, plans and specifications will be accomplished by the City with the property owner bearing costs equivalent to the cost of installing a six inch cast iron water main and subject to the following conditions: 1. The City will bear the additional cost for all fire hydrants, system water mains required for looping, and for the cost differ- ential between the cost of a six inch cast iron line and the cost for all lines above six inches. 2. The property owners will pay for the six inch cast iron water line by an increase in the monthly water service charge as shall be determined by the City Council. 3. Property owners seeking to connect to the water system subsequent to such installation and/or replacement, shall, as a condition to the granting of the right to so connect, pay a sum equal to the actual cost of each connection and in addition thereto such reasonable connection charge as the City Council shall determine proper in order that such property owners shall bear their equitable share of the cost of such system. (B) The installation of water mains to properties not previously served shall be at the benefited property owner's or developer's expense. (C) Oversized water mains required for special use demands shall be installed at the developer's or property owner's expense.
