Ordinance 1659ORDINANCE NO. 1659 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1629 OF SAID CITY AND THE FINAL BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF EDMONDS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1973, CREATING A "PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FUND" FOR SAID CITY, AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM THE CONTINGENCY FUND TO THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FUND. WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds, Washington, has since the passage of its budget for the fiscal year 1973, entered into contractual relationships with the Seattle Metropolitan Muni- cipality for the purpose of providing public transportation to the citizens of Edmonds, and WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds has contracted for public transportation studies in conjunction with the Snohomish County Metropolitan Municipality, and WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Washington has since the adopting of the 1973 budget for the City of Edmonds made available certain matching monies for the study and operation of public transportation facilities, and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the public interest and for the public health and general welfare that the City participate in public transportation facilities operations and studies, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ordinance No. 1629 of the City of Edmonds, Washington, is hereby amended by adding thereto a fund known as "The Public Transportation Fund", proceeds of which shall be used exclusively for the subsidizing or operating public J Lf iC transportation systems of said City, including but not limited to costs of necessary studies, operations, capital expenditures and/or debt service. Section 2. It is hereby directed and authorized that the sum of $5,000 be transferred from the Contingency Fund to "The Public Transportation Fund". Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this ordinance amending the 1973 budget to the Division of Municipal Corporations of the State Auditor and the Association of Washington Cities.
