Ordinance 2636RPB/sc RPB002190;0006.16000 07/31/87 ORDINANCE NO. 2636 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 8.52.010 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO CLARIFY THE EFFECTIVE TIME PERIOD OF "RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMITS" TO AUTHORIZE PARKING IN EXCESS OF POSTED TIME LIMITS, PROVIDED THAT VEHICLES SHALL NOT BE PARKED IN ANY ONE LOCATION FOR MORE THAN 72 HOURS; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Edmonds City Council acknowledges that there exists some confusion over the effect of a Residential Parking Permit issued pursuant to Edmond City Code 8.52.010, and WHEREAS, the Edmonds City Council find that the residential parking permit provision should be clarified to specify that such permits do not authorize parking in one location for more than 72 hours, and WHEREAS, the Edmonds City Council finds that this ordinance is in the interest of the public's health, safety and welfare, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 8.52.010 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 8.52.010 RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMITS DEFINED When properly issued and displayed, a residential parking permit (permit) shall exempt a specified vehicle, while parked within a specific limited parking zone for which the permit was issued, from citation for parking longer than the posted time limit for that particular zone and no other; provided that the permit shall not authorize parking for more than 72 consecutive hours in any one location. The permit -1- shall not guarantee a parking -space, nor shall it exempt the vehicle or operator from observing zones where parking is prohibited at all times, including but not limited to no parking zones, load zones, fire zones and all other applicable regulations contained in Title 8 of the Edmonds City Code.
