Ordinance 1787ORDINANCE NO. l% $ 7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO WARRANTS, ARRESTS AND PROCEEDINGS AND AMENDING SECTION 5.12.145 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 5.12.145 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows,: Section 5.12.145. Warrants -Arrests -Proceedings o The Municipal Judge shall issue warrants for the arrest of any person or persons accused in a written complaint of violating any of the provisions of the Edmonds City Code or other city ordinances, provided, the police officers may arrest without a warrant any person violating any of the provisions of the Edmonds City Code or other ordinances of the City of Edmonds in the manner and on occasions as provided by the laws of the State of Washington as they now exist or may be amended from time to time. Such powers of arrest for violations of city ordinances occurring either in or outside of the presence of said police officer shall include but not limited to the powers of arrest created by Chapter 56, Regular Session, Laws of 1975. The proceedings for issuance of warrants, arrests and general criminal proceedings shall be governed by the criminal rules for Justice Court and the traffic rules for Justice Court as promulgated, adopted and/or amended from time to time by the Supreme Court of the State of Washington. In addition to the powers of arrest provided for in this Section and the powers granted by the Legislature of the State of Washington governing the laws of arrest, as they now exist and as they may be amended from time to time, a police officer in the City of Edmonds having information to support a reasonable belief that a person has committed or is committing a misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor, involving physical harm or threat of harm to any person or property or the unlawful taking of property or involving the use or possession of cannibis shall have the authority to arrest as prescribed by Chapter 198, Extraordinary Session, Laws of 1969 and as it may be amended from time to time.
