Ordinance 1816ORDINANCE NO. 1316 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, REDUCING THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP FROM ELEVEN TO TEN MEMBERS AND AMENDING SECTION 1.08.010 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington, has found that there is no longer a need for two Members of the City Council to be ex officio members on the City Planning Commission but that one such member will provide sufficient liaison between the Planning Commission and the City Council, now, therefore, THE.CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1.08.010 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "1.08.010. Commission Created --Terris of Office. There is hereby created a city Planning Commission, consisting of ten (10) members who shall be selected as follows: One Councilman of the City of Edmonds shall be an ex officio member of the Commission during the period of such persons encumbancy in such office which ex officio member shall participate in all respects and shall not be a voting member of the Planning Commission; the other nine members shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council The term of the nine members appointed by the Mayor shall be six (6) years.; provided, that in order that the fewest terms will expire in any one year, the terms of the first appointive members shall expire on the annual anniversary date of the effective date of this section as follows: Position No. 1 - 1967 Position No. 6 - 1970 Position No.. 2 - 1968 Position No. 7 - 1971 Position No. 3 - 1968 Position No. 8 - 1972 Position No. 4 - 1969 Position No. 9 - 1972 Position No. 5 - 1970 Vacancies occurring otherwise than through the expiration of terms shall be filled for the unexpired terms. Members may be removed,'after public hearing, by the Mayor, with the ap- proval of the City Council, for inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance.in office. The members shall be selected without respect to political affiliations and they shall serve without compensation."
