Ordinance 1821ORDINANCE NO. 1821 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 12.13.110 (h). TO PERMIT ALCOHOLIC AND MENTAL CARE IN ACUTE GENERAL CARE HOSPITALS PURSUANT TO PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 487. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington, pursuant to Planning Commission Resolution No. 487, called a public hearing and during said hearing determined it to be in the best interests of the public health, safety and welfare to amend the Edmonds Zoning Code as set forth below pursuant'to Planning._ Commission Resolution No. 487, and WHEREAS, the City Council having specifically found that only acute care hospitals are licensed pursuant to RCW Chapter 70.41, and WHEREAS, RCW Chapter 70.41 permits institutions that treat or provide.'diagnosis for individual suffering from illness, injury, deformity, abnormality or other condition for which obstetrical medical or surgical services would be appropriate and specifically excludes nursing homes, maternity homes, psychiatric hospitals and other hospitals or institutions intended for use in the diagnosis and care of those suffering from mental illness, mental retardation, convulsive disorders or other abnormal mental conditions, and WHEREAS, hospitals licensed under RCW Chapter 70.41 are permitted to provide some necessary treatment for mentally ill or those suffering from alcoholic problems and there is a need within the community for a facility that can provide treatment for such persons, particularly those persons which may on occasion present a law enforcement problem, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 12.13.110 (h) is hereby amended to read as follows: 9112.13 110 (h).
