Ordinance 1837ORDINANCE NO. 1337 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO THE TAXATION REGULATION OF GAMBLING REMOVING FISHING DERBIES AS BEING SUBJECT TO TAX- ATION UNDER CHAPTER 4.15 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE. ................ I..... .... 1.... .I .......... 1... WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Washington has specifically removed fishing derbies from the definition of gambling activities, and WHEREAS, it is necessary to remove the reference to fishing derbies from Section 4..15.020 of the Edmonds City Code to keep the applicable ordinances of the City of Edmonds consistent with the powers granted to the City by the State Legislature, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 4..15.020 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "4.15.020. Persons subject to tax --Tax rate. There is levied upon all persons, associations and organizations conducting or operating within this jurisdiction any of the activities listed below a tax in the following amounts to be paid to the City of Edmonds, Washington: 1. Bingo, in the amount of the gross receipts therefrom, less the amount of money paid in cash and paid for merchandise, actually awarded as prizes during the taxable period, multiplied by the rate of ten percent, provided, however, there shall be allowed as an exemption from the levy of the tax, a sum equal to one hundred dollars per week for each week that bingo is conducted. 2. Raffles, in the amount of the gross receipts there- from, less the amount of money paid in cash and paid for merchandise, actually awarded as prizes during the taxable period, multiplied by the rate of ten percent, provided, however, there shall be allowed as an exemption from the levy of the tax, the sum of one hundred dollars per raffle, not to exceed a total exemption of one hundred dollars per week. 3. Amusement games, shall not be subject to the levy of a tax. 4. Punchboards or pull -tabs, in the amount of five percent of the gross receipts directly from the operation of the punchboards or pull -tabs them- selves. 5. Card playing, in the amount of twenty percent of the gross receipts received as fees charged persons for the privilege of playing in card games, provided, however, in no event shall any person, association or organization subject to the tax be permitted to have more than two tables for the purpose of card games in any one establishment, nor shall more than eight players be permitted per table.
