ORDINANCE NO. 2891
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 2884;
AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 2838 TO
ADD THE SALARY REVIEW COMMITTEE TO THE LIST OF
MEETINGS QUALIFYING FOR COMPENSATION PAYMENTS
TO MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; AND FIXING A
TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2884 inadvertently removed certain
meetings, the attendance of which entitled Councilmembers to
compensation, and
WHEREAS, it was the intent of the City Council that
members be paid for attendance at such meetings and said
scrivener's error needs to be corrected to fully include all of the
meetings, the attendance at which entitles a councilmember to
receive authorized compensation, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 2884 is hereby repealed.
Section 2. This ordinance is intended to clarify the
definition of "Council meeting" used by Ordinances No. 2622 and No.
2741 of the City of Edmonds to determine salary payments. Said
Ordinance No. 2622 provides that City Councilmembers taking office
on or after January 1, 1988, shall receive a base salary of $300
per month, plus $50 for each Council meeting attended. Ordinance
No. 2741 provides that Councilmembers taking office after December
31, 1989, will receive $350 per month and $50 per meeting to a

maximum of 7 meetings per month. "Council meeting" shall mean all
meetings of the Edmonds City Council attended by a quorum thereof,
whether regular or special, as well as public meetings attended by
a Councilmember as a representative of the City Council as a part
of the official duties of their office. Section 1 of Ordinance No.
2838 is amended to properly identify such meetings as limited to
the following assignments:
a. Cultural Arts and Convention District;
b. Disability Board;
C. Professional Consultant Selection Committee;
d. SnoCom;
e. Snohomish County Drug Enforcement Task Force;
f. Snohomish County Community Transit;
g. Snohomish County Health District;
h. Edmonds Visitors Bureau Executive Committee;
i. Medic 7; and
j. Salary Review Committee
Section 3. This ordinance, being an administrative
action, is not subject to referendum and shall take effect five (5)
days after publication of this ordinance or a summary thereof
consisting of the title.
