Ordinance 29860006.150.098 WSS/are 06/ 16/94 ORDINANCE NO. 2986 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 8.48.330 TO INCREASE FEES FOR THE FERRY PARKING LOT EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 1994 AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the City has acquired property utilized as a public parking lot primarily for ferry parking with funds pursuant to a grant from the State of Washington, and WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the grant, increases in parking fees require approval of the State of Washington, and WHEREAS, the State has approved an increase for the ferry lot to thirty five dollars ($35) per month in order that it be commensurate with the fees charged at a majority of other public parking lots owned by the City, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to make this change effective August 31, 1994 in order to provide suitable notice to individuals utilizing such lots, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 8.48.330 Monthly Parking Permits of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 8.48.330 Monthly Parking Permits. Monthly parking permits shall be obtained from the City Clerk upon payment of the applicable fee. The monthly fee for the public parking lot located near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 77084.1 -1- Dayton and known as the "Fifth Avenue" lot and the public parking lot located near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Main Street known as the "Fourth Avenue" lot shall be twenty five dollars ($25.00) per space. The monthly fee for all other lots shall be thirty five dollars ($35.00) per space. The permit shall contain a permit number and the expiration date when issued by the City Clerk. The monthly parking permit shall authorize a vehicle to park in a pay parking lot in accordance with the following provisions: 1. Permits issued on the first day of each month, for the one month period ending on the expiration date set forth on the permit; or 2. Individual monthly parking permits, a thirty (30) day period ending on the expiration date set forth on the permit. Section 2. For the purpose of implementing the changes created by this ordinance, i.e., an increase in the monthly parking fee for the ferry parking lot from twenty dollars ($20.00) per space to thirty five dollars ($35.00) per space, the City Clerk is authorized to commence issuance of parking permits for such lot in conformance with this ordinance on or after August 1, 1994. Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an administrative action, is not subject to referendum and shall take effect August 31, 1994 after publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the title.
