ORDINANCE NO. 2172
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, REPEALING CHAPTER 1.74 OF THE EDMONDS
CITY CODE AND ENACTING A NEW CHAPTER 3.07 OF
THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO BE ENTITLED "CRIMINAL
INVESTIGATION CONTINGENCY FUND", AND ESTAB-
LISHING A REVOLVING CONTINGENCY FUND IN THE
CITY FOR CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 1.74 of the Edmonds City Code is
hereby repealed and a new Chapter 3.07 is hereby added to be
entitled "Criminal Investigation Contingency Fund."
Section 2. A new Section 3.07.010 is hereby added to
the Edmonds City Code to read as follows:
3.07.010 CONTINGENCY FUND, CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS
There is created a revolving contingency fund to pro-
vide monies for the purpose of surveillance, preven-
tion, investigation and apprehension of violations of
law, including the illicit sale, distribution and use
of narcotics or dangerous drugs or controlled sub-
stances. Expenditures from the fund shall be upon
request of the chief or assistant chief of the Edmonds
police department, and subject to the approval of the
mayor, for the purposes set forth herein. The con-
tingency fund shall be a revolving fund in an amount
not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars and shall be
funded by transfer from available funds by the city
finance director subject to the approval of the mayor.
Section 3. This ordinance will be in full force and
effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
