ORDINANCE NO. 2191
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTIONS 4.72.040(B) AND
(C) OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO INCREASE
THE BUSINESS LICENSE FEES; AMENDING SECTION
15.00.020(A)(4) TO INCREASE FEES FOR HOME
OCCUPATION PERMITS; AND ADDING A NEW SEC-
TION 15.00.020(A)(21) TO ESTABLISH FEES FOR
TEXT AMENDMENTS TO THE COMMUNITY DEVELOP-
MENT CODE.
WHEREAS, the business license fee has not been
increased since 1977, and
WHEREAS, increasing costs of administering busi-
ness licenses necessitate an increase in the fees, now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 4.72.040(B) of the Edmonds
City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"B. Fees for the annual license issued hereunder shall be
as follows:
1. Licenses for businesses required to obtain a home
occupation permit pursuant to Chapter 20.20 of the
Edmonds City Code shall be 15 dollars per year;
2. Fees for businesses that have employees that work
36 or fewer man -months per year shall be 20 dollars
per year;
3. For businesses that have employees that work more
than 36 man -months per year, but fewer than 120
man -months per year, the fee shall be 22 dollars
per year;
4. For businesses that have employees that work 120
man -months per year or more, the fee shall be 75
dollars per year."
Section 2. Section 4.72.040(C) of the Edmonds
City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"C. All businesses required to obtain licenses hereunder
shall obtain the same and pay all fees required on or
before February 15 of each respective year; provided,
however, that for the year 1981 only, businesses shall
be required to obtain the licenses before April 1. Any
business which fails to obtain and pay the license fees
within said period of time shall, in addition to any
other penalties provided in this chapter, be assessed
an amount equal to fifty percent of the license fee for
said business as a penalty for such late application
and/or payment."
Section 3. Section 15.00.020(A)(4) of the Edmonds
City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"4. Home Occupations: $35"
Section 4. A new Section 15.00.020(A)(21) is
hereby added to the Edmonds City Code to read as follows:
"21. Text Amendments to the Community Development Code: $100"
Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law and the increased fees shall
apply to all business licenses and home occupation permits
required to be obtained on and after January 1, 1981.
