ORDINANCE NO. 2211
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, ADDING A NEW SECTION 7.30.030(G)
OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO IMPOSE AN 8.25
PERCENT SURCHARGE ON WATER CONSUMED.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has
determined to repeal the utility tax imposed on persons engaged
in selling water within the City of Edmonds and at the same time
increase the base and variable water rates by 8.25 percent, and
WHEREAS, the repeal of the water utility tax and the
corresponding increase in water rates are necessary in order to
place the City's utilities on a more stable and sound financial
basis, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A new Section 7.30.030(G) is hereby added
to the Edmonds City Code to read as follows:
"G. Consumption Surcharge. All customers shall pay an addi-
tional surcharge in the amount of 8.25 percent of the base
rate and variable rate for water as set forth in subsections
A and B of this section."
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect five (5) days after passage and publication by posting as
provided by law.
