ORDINANCE NO. 2239
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON AMENDING SECTION 2.10.030 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE TO AMEND THE DUTIES OF
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS AND ADDING A NEW
SECTION 2.10.031 TO CREATE THE OFFICE OF
SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined to redefine
the duties of Director of Public Works and to create a new
position of Superintendent of Public Works, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.10.030 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to redefine duties of the Director of
Public Works and to read as follows:
2.10.030 Director of Public Works. There is
created the office of Director of Public Works,
which shall be filled by appointment of the Mayor,
subject to confirmation by the City Council, and
who shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
The Director of Public Works shall be in charge
of the Engineering and Public Works Departments,
and shall perform such other duties as may be
assigned by the Mayor.
Section 2. A new section 2.10.031 is hereby added to
the Edmonds City Code to create the office of Superintendent of
Public Works, defined duties and to read as follows:
2.10.031 SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. There
is created the office of the Superintendent of
Public Works, which shall be filled by appoint-
ment by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by
the City Council, and who shall serve at the
pleasure of the Mayor. The Superintendent of
Public Works shall be in charge of the Building
and Grounds Division, Street Division, Water -
Sewer Division, Equipment Rental Division, and
the treatment plant and shall perform such other
duties as may be assigned by the Mayor. In
absence of the Director of Public Works, the
Superintendent of Public Works shall report to
the Mayor or MAA.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect five days after passage and publication by posting as
provided by law.
