ORDINANCE NO. 2253
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTION 4.24.010 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE TO REQUIRE LICENSES FOR
AUTOMATIC AMUSEMENT GAMES INCLUDING VIDEO
GAMES AND PINBALL MACHINES; AMENDING
SECTION 4.24.020 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE
TO INCREASE THE LICENSE FEE REQUIRED;
ADDING A NEW SECTION 4.24.025 TO THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE SETTING FORTH THE
REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSE APPLICATIONS; AND
PROVIDING PENALTIES.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the following
amendments are in the best interests of the public, safety
and general welfare and are acted pursuant to State law which
authorizes the City to license businesses and entertainment
for regulation or revenue, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 4.24.010 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
4.24.010 LICENSE REQUIRED
It is unlawful for any person, corporation, part-
nership, firm, or other association to keep,
operate or allow the operation of any pool table,
billiard table, automatic amusement game or so-
called game of skill including video games and
pinball machines, juke box or other automatic music
machine open to the public at large, including
private clubs, within the City of Edmonds without
first having procured a license from the City Clerk
and having paid the amount of such license fee to
the City.
Section 2. Section 4.24.020 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
4.24.020 LICENSE FEE
The license fee for the license required under
Section 4.24.010, excluding video games, shall be
$25.00 per year for each table, game and/or
machine. The license fee for video games shall be
$40.00 per month per machine. All such licenses
shall expire on December 31 of each respective year
and all licenses taken out after January 1 of each
respective year shall be prorated for the remaining
months of the year.
Section 3. A new section 4.24.025 is hereby added
to the Edmonds City Code to read as follows:
4.24.025 APPLICATION FORMS
All persons required to obtain licenses under the
provisions of this chapter shall complete the
appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. The
form shall, in addition to other relevant informa-
tion, contain the following:
1. The applicant's and address
2. A physical description of the device
3. The street address and business name of the
premises in which the device is to be utilized
or operated
It shall be unlawful to utilize or operate the
device at any other address or premises other
than set forth on the license application.
Section 4. Any person violating any provision of
this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction thereof, shall be punished as set forth in Section
5.45.020 of the Edmonds City Code.
Section 5. If any portion of this ordinance is held
to be invalid or inapplicable to any person, the remaining
portions of this ordinance and their applications to other
persons shall not be affected.

Section 6. This ordinance will be in full force and
effect January 1, 1982 and after publication by posting as
provided by law.
