ORDINANCE NO. 2268
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTION, AMENDING SECTION 16.20.050B OF
THE EDMONDS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CODE TO
ALLOW AMATEUR RADIO TRANSMITTING ANTENNAS
TO EXCEED 15 FEET IN HEIGHT IN A SINGLE
FAMILY RESIDENTIAL ZONE.
WHEREAS, the Edmonds Community Development Code
Section 16.20.050B currently limits the height of all acces-
sory buildings in a RS - Single Family Residential zone to no
more than 15 feet, and
WHEREAS, the Edmonds Community Development Code
currently requires by Section 16.20.O1OD(4) that all persons
desiring to erect an amateur radio transmitting antenna must
first obtain a conditional use permit thereby submitting the
dimensions of such proposed antenna to Hearing Examiner
review, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that amateur radio
transmitting antennas often require additional height due to
topography or surrounding trees, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Hearing
Examiner review of all amateur radio transmitting antennas
sufficiently insures that any such antenna that is approved
will have been reviewed for its compatibility with the sur-
rounding neighborhood, thereby protecting the public's
interest in safety and general welfare, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 16.20.050B of the Edmonds
Community Development Code is hereby amended to except
amateur radio transmitting antennas from the 15 foot height
limit as follows:
B. Height. Height shall be limited to 15
feet, except for amateur radio
transmiting antennas.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five days after passage and publication by posting
as provided by law.
