ORDINANCE NO. 2282
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTION 10.15.010A OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE DELETING THE REQUIREMENT
THAT A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL ACT AS AN
EX OFFICIO MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF APPEALS.
WHEREAS, the Edmonds City Code currently requires
that the Mayor appoint one member of the City Council to act
as an ex officio, nonvoting member of the Board of Appeals,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the best
interests of the City will be equally well served if such
requirement is deleted, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 10.15.010A of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
A. Board established. In order to determine the
suitability of alternate materials and types
of construction and to provide for reasonable
interpretations of provisions of the Uniform
Building Code, there shall be and is hereby
created a board of appeals consisting of seven
members who are qualified by experience and
training to pass upon the matters pertaining
to building construction and design. The
building official, so designated, shall be an
ex officio, nonvoting member and shall act as
secretary of the board. The members of the
board of appeals shall be appointed by the
mayor, subject to the approval of the city
council; their terms of office shall be for a
period of four years. The board may adopt
reasonable rules and regulations for conduct-
ing its investigation and shall render all
decisions and findings in writing with a copy
to the applicant and may recommend to the city
council new legislation relative to building
and design construction matters.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
