EDMONDS ORDINANCE NO. 2283
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SUBSECTION (1) OF SECTION
16.20.010C OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
CODE TO PERMIT BUS STOP SHELTERS IN RS
ZONES WITH CONDITIONAL USE PERMITS; ADDING
A NEW SUBSECTION (6) TO SECTION 16.30.010A
PERMITTING BUS STOP SHELTERS IN RM ZONES;
AMENDING SECTION 16.30.020C(2)(f) TO DELETE
THE REQUIREMENT FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PER-
MIT FOR BUS STOP SHELTERS IN RM ZONES;
ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION (5) TO SECTION
16.45.010A TO PROVIDE FOR BUS STOP SHELTERS
IN BN ZONES; ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION (6) TO
SECTION 16.50.010A PERMITTING BUS STOP
SHELTERS IN BC ZONES; AND ADDING A NEW
SUBSECTION (6) TO SECTION 16.55.010A PER-
MITTING BUS STOP SHELTERS IN CW ZONES.
WHEREAS, the Planning Advisory Board considered per-
mitting bus stop shelters in all zones throughout the City
without requiring a conditional use permit and, after all
members of the public desiring to speak to this issue were
given such an opportunity, the Board recommended that the
City Council allow bus stop shelters on arterial streets in a
single family residential zone provided a conditional use
permit is obtained, and to unconditionally permit bus stop
shelters in all other zones within the City, and,
WHEREAS, the City's responsible official has found
that there will be no adverse environmental impacts signifi-
cantly affecting the quality of the environment, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the
best interests of the general welfare of the City of Edmonds
to unconditionally permit bus stop shelters in any zone in
the City, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Subsection (1) of Section 16.20.O10C is
hereby amended to read as follows:
1. Limited community facilities, located on
arterial streets only, including only the
following: elementary schools, nursery
schools, fire stations, electric substa-
tions, pumping stations, water storage,
libraries, churches, parks, recreation
facilities, and bus stop shelters.
Section 2. A new subsection (6) is hereby added to
Section 16.30.010A, to read as follows:
6. Bus stop shelters.
Section 3. Section 16.30.020C(2)(f) is hereby
amended to remove the requirement for a conditional use per-
mit for bus stop shelters in RM zones as follows:
f. Electric substations, pumping stations,
water storage, drainage facilities, trans-
mitting and receiving antennas.
Section 4. A new subsection (5) is hereby added to
Section 16.45.010A of the Community Development Code to read
as follows:
5. Bus stop shelters.
Section 5. A new subsection (6) is hereby added to
Section 16.50.010A of the Community Development Code to read
as follows:
6. Bus stop shelters.

Section 7. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
