ORDINANCE NO. 2426'
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHING -
TON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2401 PASSED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL ON OCTOBER 11, 1983, TO EXTEND
THE MORATORIUM ON THE EFFECT OF SECTION
17.40.040 OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CODE
RELATING TO THE COMPLIANCE OF LEGAL, NON-
CONFORMING SIGNS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2401, passed
by the City Council on October 11, 1983, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section!. The operation and effect of Section
17.40.040 of the Community Development Code shall
be and hereby_ is suspended from May 16, 1983 until
June 15 , 1984, or later as the Council
may by ordinance direct, as it applies only to
signs meeting the following criteria:
1) Signs which are directly related to the
use or activity operated on the site of
the sign;
2) Signs which are located along Highway 99
and on property zoned General Commercial
(CG);
3) Signs which conformed to the Edmonds City
Code prior to May 16, 1978 but which were
made nonconforming by the passage of
Ordinance No. 1994 which became effective
on May 16, 1978, and
4) Signs which have not been brought into
conformance with the current requirements
of Chapter 20.60 of the Community
Development Code as of May 16, 1983.
Section 2. This ordinance is not intended to and
shall not alter, modify or amend any other section or provi-
sion of Ordinance No. 2401, and those unaffected sections of
such ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
