CALL TO ORDER:

ROLL CALL:
Suzanne Juergensen and Brian Doyle notified Chase and Caruso that they would be absent.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Agenda approved unanimously.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
No audience comments.
APPROVAL OF MEETING NOTES:
Meeting Notes of July 1, 2021 were approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
a. Tree Tags —Donna Murphy. Murphy thanks Bill Phipps for his help. Murphy is typing up the tags. Discussed how
to print and laminate (when ready); probably will use Office Depot or FedEx Office. Need to notify Parks
Department and Public Works before posting.
b. Edmonds in Bloom Garden Tours —Suzanne Juergensen. Chase reported in Juergensen's absence. Edmonds in
Bloom well attended. Signage was used for tree identification.
c. October Tree Planting —Debra Dill. Several proposed tree plantings scheduled for early October in Hutt, Yost, and
Meadowdale Parks, plus one other park site. 100 trees. Working with Students Saving Salmon and Sound
Salmon Solutions for locations and labor for planting. Joe Scordino leading the team. Dill will keep Tree Board
apprised for participation.
d. Edmonds Elementary —Barbara Chase. New plantings done last year. She visited school to make sure last year's
plantings are doing well. With addition of water bag, tree and plants look good.
NEW BUSINESS:
a. Lake Forest Park —Bill Phipps. Part of contacting other cities about tree codes. Phipps left voicemail for urban
forester but hasn't heard back. Phipps will follow up. Will also look at contacting Kirkland —they had a good tree
code but some residents are looking to weaken it.
b. Marsh Cleanup —Diane Buckshnis. Group worked on one culvert, cutting, pulling, and bagging invasive
vegetation. Shellabarger Creek now open for free flow of water to marsh. About 10 people participating per
cleanup. WSDOT pleased with progress.
c. September notetaker will be Suzanne Juergensen.
d. In -person meeting in September? City has mask mandate for in -person meeting. General consensus to attempt to
meet in person. Could meet outside at Veterans' Plaza or in Council Chambers. Will be game -time decision on
whether conditions allow meeting in person and for the location.
TREE BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS:
• None.
ADJOURN:
The meeting was adjourned by Barbara Chase at 6:59 p.m.
Next Meeting: September 2, 2021.
