Update on 2022 Historic Preservation Calendar
Staff Lead: Rob Chave
Department: Planning Division
Prepared By: Rob Chave
Background/History
The Commission has frequently published a calendar with the purpose of public outreach and promoting
historic preservation in Edmonds.
Staff Recommendation
N/A
Narrative
The calendar has been prepared and printing pursued. Our previous printer was apparently acquired (or
merged) with another company this past year, so we have had to shift gears and work with another
printing company. Staff is awaiting an update on when the printing can be completed, and we hope to
have the date secured by meeting time.

Downtown Edmonds in the early 1900s was a hodgepodge of pioneer remnants and new technologies. Horses and oxen still
trotted through mostly mud streets, and were joined by the zip and zoom of automobiles and buses. The 1910 street view
(above) of Main Street (formerly named George Street) and 4th Avenue highlights the changing modes of transportation in
Edmonds. The photograph is showing the south street view: State Bank of Edmonds, U.S. Post Office,
Roscoe Brothers Groceries & Edmonds Hardware (EHM 150.27).
All historic photographs are used with permission. To purchase photographic prints contact the Edmonds -South Snohomish County Historical
Society & Museum at www.historicedmonds.org. off-M7
