Administration:
• Approve/Amend Agenda: Greg moves the motion, Gabriel seconded. Approved
• Approve/Amend Minutes: Greg moves the motion, Lindsey seconded. Approved
• Financials: Carolyn provided an overview and will send copies as nothing has changed since last
month.
Continuing Business:
• Chaperone recruitment: Two applicants (Maria Jackson and Catherine Mathias, both teachers).
We are tentatively scheduled for interviews on 2/26 at 6:00 at City Hall. After the interviews, we
will either open recruitment or ask past chaperones if they are interested.
• Student recruitment:
o We have eight applications! The snow delayed our visits. One applicant will be 14 in
October and we have the question out to legal to ensure that it would not be an issue.
We should keep it open to get as many applications as possible. We are in good shape
for ten, but want to make sure we fill it and in case any applicants are not strong.
o We will extend the deadline until March 29th (right before spring break). Carolyn will
update the application and directly send the e-flyer to the schools. Lindsey
recommended reaching out to PTA Presidents as another PT avenue.
o We updated our student flyer — updated from 25th anniversary to 301h, replaced photos
to show different groups from different years, updated the branding to say
"commission", and removed Sister City International from the flyer.
• Assistant Language Teacher update:
o Listings are now on the website and the press release has gone out. With the snow
storm, we haven't gotten up on the college sites yet. The deadline is March 291h. We
have discussed the compensation at previous meetings and decided to move forward. In
the past, the program has paid for airfare round trip and will now be now.
o Applicants will need to be able to pay for their airfare with the possibility of getting in
back in lieu of retirement. The compensation is $30,000, plus $21,400 in bonuses
throughout the years. There may be $3,600 in a retirement fund but must complete
their contract before receiving that.
o Carolyn will do more research if this is eligible for student loan write-offs as part of any
public sector/non-profit loan forgiveness programs.
