Approved • Financials: Only expenditures were $92.26 to feed chaperones interviewing students and planning orientation meetings. Continuing Business: • Chaperone recruitment: Hired Katie and Kathryn — they are up and running. • Student recruitment: Interviewed nine students. There are some reservations on one young boy. He will be fifteen, but he is younger on the social side. They felt the need to meet with him (Nathanial) again to make sure he is ready. We will monitor him and see how he interacts with the group. We are going to set that up this week. All of the students were fine and we will begin background checks soon. Please have people contact Carolyn directly if they are interested. We won't turn people away until we are deeper in the orientation process. We really want 10 students. 0 5/9: Laura, and Gillian 0 5/21: Karyn and Michele 0 6/4: Laura and Michele 0 6/18: Lindsey and Gabriel 0 7/9: Date not confirmed —THIS DATE HAS BEEN CONFIRMED Assistant Language Teacher update: We had an interview at 5:00 today. It was a very positive experience. No reservations across the board. The biggest takeaway is how patient he is and his goal is to become a classroom teacher. He wants to learn Japanese, and is fluent in German. We are moving forward with him — Christopher Riley Conley. He is an Edmonds resident and loves the city. He found out about the position from him mom who follows us on Facebook. New Business: • Laura to begin brainstorming and outlining our next newsletter to be published in July. We will take another stab with increasing our interactions on Facebook and take a deeper look at our e- mail campaign statistics. • Itinerary o Will not consider doing another UW canoeing day— not worth our energy and effort of physical work and logistics. Carolyn is considering new options like Schack and Funko. o Will expand our day in Olympia to see more of what is beyond the Capitol. Point Defiance Zoo is not worth our time — but considering the Fort and cultural center. Another idea is Ferry to go to Dungeness Spit and Sequim.
