I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Stephany Janssen motioned to call the meeting to order at 6:00 pm in Room
123 in the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols seconded that motion
Motion passed unanimously
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols moved to make Cole Albaugh interim Secretary
Chairman StephanyJanssen seconded that motion
Motion passed unanimously
II. MINUTES - Approval of 11/20/19
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols moved to approve 12/4/19 meeting's minutes with no
revisions
Chairman Stephany Janssen seconded that motion
Motion passed unanimously
Chairman read the Native American Land Statement
III. WHAT'S CITY COUNCIL COVERING?
- City Council member Mansaros
- Very unproductive

City Council talking behind the back of members
January will have a new two-year Council member
Kaleb explained how he thinks the city council can fix their ways, feels as if it were a
national news source than a more professional City Council meeting
Wanted to make a motion to make a statement on our disappointment on the Tuesday
meeting, couldn't because not enough members present
IV. FIRST & SECOND YEAR SUCCESS: ON TRACK
- So far on track with our first and second year success
- Find ways for better advertising
- List of ASB members at other schools for advertising almost complete
- Almost established in the community
- Focused more on development
- Focus more on mental health, bring gun control back
- Next forum will be climate change and environment oriented
- Communication is better
- Improved our attendance at City Council meetings
- We should go bigger than where we already are
- Thinking about a youth event monthly
- We're addressing certain topics, but need to focus on others as well
- Reevaluate the way we tackle topics and meetings
- Get more involved with City Council by making statements
V. FORUM DEBRIEF
- Small crowd but they participated well
- People were very open to talking
- New advertising techniques?
- Not enough time/man power
- Short Film on the youth commision
- Hallway callender at school
- Make a list on where and who to advertise to
- Start earlier on advertising
- Improve social media outreach
- Getting on the Edmonds Beacon with a recurring news column
- Getting a photographer at meetings and events
- Be a little bit more professional
- Can't just let our info go out without listening to our community
- Focus on things we want to talk about and take input

VI. ANNUAL REPORT TO COUNCIL
- Narrative/paragraph needed by january 28th
- Powerpoint

- 2-4 people talking
- Chair and Co -Chair present
- All members attend
- Kaleb and Stephany make a mock presentation and ask for ideas
- Owen pull it together
- Grab data from exit slips from annual forums
VII. NEXT MAJOR PROJECT
- Mental health
- Taskforce with other youth commissions and to with the state about our topic
- Everyone needs to be ready to work
- Reach out to other commissions
VIII. WHAT'S HAPPENING IN EDMONDS?
- Dance writing workshop in February
