Whereas. Adrienne Traley,%fonilas was sworn into office on January 5, 2010 to serve a four-year term and
was re-elected in 2013 and again in 2017; she served three years as Council President and two years as
Council President ProTem. During her tenure she presided over the business of the City Council with a
sense of humor, steadfast dedication, using her knowledge, experience, and expertise to manage the
day-to-day administration of the City Council and to communicate with and embrace the concerns of
Edmonds citizens, City staff, community leaders, and other elected officials.
Whereas, during her term, Councilmember Fraley-Monillas approached her duties diligently — apprising herself of
all the facts and ensuring that the Council as a body had all the relevant information needed to make
informed decisions. As such, she helped to see the completion of the following:
• Set weekly council meeting agendas
and oversaw 2016, 2019, and 2020
Edmonds City Council Retreats and
Budgets
• Restricted building heights in
Edmonds
• Protected the Edmonds Marsh
through enhancing the buffers and
limiting redevelopment
• Reduced the impacts of oil and coal
trains throughout the Puget Sound
region
• Sponsored Edmonds Safe City code
• Advocated and lobbied for the redevelopment of
Highway 99
• Advocated for a Human and Social Services
program to serve Edmonds' most vulnerable
• Worked on Safe Gun Storage
• Initiated the Homelessness Task Force
• Initiated the Opioid Task Force
• Initiated and completed the Edmonds Styrofoam
ban
• Enacted the Edmonds Plastic bag ban
• Initiated the formation of the Diversity
Commission
Whereas, while on Council, Ms. Fraley-Monillas was involved with many committees and commissions on behalf of
the City of Edmonds including:
